Users of previous versions of Excel will notice a dramatic difference to the general appearance of the Excel interface. The previous familiar menu, toolbar and task pane layout has been replaced in the majority of circumstances with a tab based Ribbon structure which is part of the new Microsoft Office fluent user interface. Each tab on the command Ribbon, which appears when MS Excel 2007 is opened, provides access to a more graphical interface to help users quickly locate the command or action that they are seeking.
It is advised that before you continue with this opportunity that you view the short introductory videos to the Office 2007 interface. These will provide you with a clear overview of the major changes which have appeared in Office 2007. As always, each application within Office complies to a basic structure so having engaged with Excel 2007 many of its features will appear in the other Office applications.
